What is the never type in TypeScript?

The never type represents values that never occur. It is commonly used for functions that always throw exceptions or enter infinite loops. TypeScript also uses never internally when narrowing types and determining unreachable code paths. It helps developers ensure exhaustive type checking and catch missing cases during compilation.
